{"id":72,"date":"2015-09-02T21:04:37","date_gmt":"2015-09-02T21:04:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thunderboltmarine.com\/blog\/?p=72"},"modified":"2020-01-23T15:44:25","modified_gmt":"2020-01-23T15:44:25","slug":"tmi-employee-spotlight-september-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thunderboltmarine.com\/blog\/tmi-employee-spotlight-september-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"TMI Employee Spotlight September 2015 &#8211; Frank Chance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Frank Chance<\/strong><br \/>\nMachinist<\/p>\n<p>Frank is a Savannah Native growing up in his Dad\u2019s machine shop.\u00a0 As a machinist, he\u2019s worked in power plants in Utah, Montana, Texas, Louisiana, Florida and New York.\u00a0 Thankfully for us, Frank came back to Savannah.\u00a0Frank\u2019s passions are history and archaeology, studying both since high school and participating in numerous digs.\u00a0 He\u2019s credited with finding a major Native American site in Bryan County GA.\u00a0\u00a0 He has a beautiful collection of bottles and artifacts dating from before the time of American Revolution through the Civil War.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0He\u2019s also found several treasures from the old Thunderbolt Casino, that sat on the site of \u00a0The Crew Lounge at Thunderbolt Marine. (You can find more information about the casino on our website). \u00a0Frank is a certified SCUBA diver and has been involved in excavating five shipwrecks, documenting one as Co-Author of \u2018Tangled Machinery and Charred Relics, The Historical and Archaeological Investigation of The C.S.S. father\u2019s machine shop for his drive to \u201ccreate things\u201d.\u00a0 A few of Frank\u2019s creations can be found on or around his work bench.\u00a0 \u00a0There is an anvil he made from a piece of railroad rail (track), \u00a0a knife crafted from a railroad spike.\u00a0 \u00a0One of his more popular creations a Jeep replica golf cart is in use daily as his transportation around the yard.\u00a0 \u00a0Keeping in line with custom cars, Frank customized a Jeep truck and is now building a hot rod.<\/p>\n<p><a
